"American Idol" crowns another winner

 Abby Carter, a 21-year-old musician from Indio, California, won the popular vote to become the "American Idol" Season 22 champion during Sunday night's finale.

Will Mosley, a 23-year-old musician from Hazelhurst, Georgia, and Jack Blocker, a 25-year-old graphic designer from Dallas, Texas, tied for second.

A who's who of the music industry was on hand to amp up the suspense throughout the three-hour finale, including guest stars Jon Bon Jovi, 2004 "Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino, Jason Mraz, Winona Judd, Sel, New Kids were included. Block and more.

Then there were hometown visits: Abby to Indio, Calif., Jake to Dallas, Texas, and Will to Hazelhurst, Ga.

In addition to solo performances, the Top 3 and returning contestants from season 7 on ABC (season 22 overall) also performed duets with guest artists, including Hottie and the Blowfish, New Kids on the Block, Featuring Jason Mraz, Wynonna Judd, CC Venance. Cody Johnson, Seal, James B., Bishop Briggs, and season 14 winner Nick Fridiani, performing on Broadway in A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical. But the performances were not criticized by judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, who also performed during the three-hour 2024 final.
